1. Who this policy covers
This Policy applies to the WarmNod Android app and the services needed to operate it. WarmNod is currently available only to people who are 18 or older.
2. Information we collect
Account and consent information
We process your email address, a securely hashed form of your password when you create one, your confirmation that you are 18 or older, the versions and dates of policies you accepted, your language setting, and your time zone. Your email is used for account verification, sign-in, recovery, and essential service messages. Other members do not see it.
If you use Google sign-in, Google receives the authentication request. WarmNod receives your Google account email address, email-verification status, a stable Google account identifier, and a short-lived ID token used to authenticate the request. We store a protected lookup derived from the Google account identifier so you can sign in again; we do not store the Google ID token. Google processes information under its own privacy policy.
Content and activity
We process the bottle notes and one-time replies you submit, their language tags, delivery and opening status, timestamps, daily usage counts, and moderation outcomes. If you report or block someone, we process the report category, optional details, and the records needed to prevent future matching and investigate safety concerns.
Device and service information
We process an app installation identifier, a public-key fingerprint used to protect sessions, the app version, and basic request and security metadata needed to operate and defend the service. If push notifications are enabled, we may process a device notification token. Network requests necessarily expose an IP address to our service infrastructure, where it may be processed for delivery, security, and abuse prevention.
Information we do not ask you to provide
WarmNod does not require a public profile, real name, gender, precise location, contacts, or photos. Please do not place personal contact details or sensitive information in a bottle or reply.
3. How we use information
We use information to create and secure your account; verify your email; deliver anonymous bottles and replies; enforce daily limits; remember your shore state; provide account recovery; moderate content; handle reports and blocks; prevent spam, fraud, and abuse; diagnose failures; comply with law; and improve the reliability and safety of WarmNod.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our agreement with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting WarmNod, and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Anonymous interactions
WarmNod does not show your email, account identifier, gender, location, or a profile to the person receiving your bottle or reply. Anonymous to another member does not mean invisible to WarmNod: the service must associate activity with an account internally to deliver content, enforce limits, investigate reports, and prevent repeat matching after a block.
5. Content moderation and safety
Bottles and replies may be checked by automated rules and, when needed, reviewed by authorized safety personnel. Report details and relevant account or encounter records may be reviewed to investigate violations, protect users, respond to appeals, and meet legal obligations. Access is limited to people and systems that need it for these purposes.
6. When information is shared
Other members receive only the anonymous content and limited encounter status needed for the exchange.
We may use service providers for infrastructure hosting, email delivery, push notifications, security, and operational support. They may process information only to provide services to WarmNod and under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users, WarmNod, or the public. Information may also transfer as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy or notice of a replacement policy.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.
7. Retention and account deletion
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here. Retention depends on whether your account is active, the lifecycle of an encounter, safety and fraud-prevention needs, backup cycles, and legal obligations.
You can request deletion in the app from Account > Delete account. If you cannot access the app, follow the steps on our account deletion page. Deletion closes the account and revokes active sessions. Some records may remain for a limited period in protected backups or where needed for fraud prevention, safety investigations, dispute resolution, enforcement of our agreements, or legal compliance. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, subject to these exceptions.
8. Security
WarmNod uses safeguards designed to protect information in transit and at rest. Passwords are stored using a one-way password hash, and sensitive account and user-content fields are protected on the server. No system can guarantee absolute security, so keep your password private and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
9. Your choices and rights
You can review core account information in the app, sign out, block another member, report content, or delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
10. Children
WarmNod is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly allow minors to create accounts. If you believe a minor has used the service, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
11. International processing
Information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy as WarmNod changes. We will update the effective date and, when required, provide prominent notice or ask you to accept a new version before continuing to use affected features.
